Mr. Barros was appointed President of Northstar in 2019. He has 25 years of experience in the energy industry and has spent the past year at Northstar in different leadership capacities covering project engineering, project execution, sales and general operations. He previously worked for 10 years as the Vice President of Energy Management for Veolia North America (SourceOne) and worked for 14 years as an Operational Manger for Eversource (NSTAR). Over the course of his career he has gained experience in large scale feasibility, design, and construction projects. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in 16 states.
Mr. Barros holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University. He also took some graduate Mechanical Engineering classes at Northeastern University and doctoral on-line classes at Kennedy-Western University. Mr. Barros is a prior President of the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers.
Thomas Quine is a Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors and the founder of Northstar Industries, LLC. Thomas has over 37 years of engineering and construction experience, holding a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology, with high honors, from Wentworth Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
Thomas began his natural gas career at Essex County as Company and was Manager of Engineering and Measurement. The position involved design, construction, and operation of pipelines, LNG, SCADA, M&R facilities, and propane assets. Prior to forming Northstar, he also worked at Stone and Webster Engineering serving as the project manager for various LNG, propane, natural gas measurement and control, and power projects. Thomas is active in development efforts for greenfield LNG projects for Northstar and plays an instrumental role in day to day operations with respect to business development.
Mr. McCann has been with Northstar Industries for seven years and has proven himself to be an indispensable member of the leadership team. He started in Business Development and has progressed to manager the Project Office, acted as General Manager, and is now one of Northstar’s Vice Presidents. His responsibilities include overseeing all financial, administrative, project management, and construction aspects of the company’s day to day business. Mr. McCann is also the non-voting Secretary of the Board of Directors of Northstar Industries.
Mr. McCann is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a graduate of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts.
Prior to Liberty Energy, Boris Brevnov was Vice President of M&A at AES Corporation, a global power company with $18 billion in revenue and energy businesses in 27 countries, where he led the acquisition of Dayton Power & Light Corporation in Ohio (500,000 electric utility customers and 20,000 miles of transmission and distribution miles). Prior to AES, Boris was VP of Corporate Development at Integrys Energy Group, during which he led and executed the merger between WPS Resources and Peoples Energy, and the acquisition of Michigan Gas and Minnesota Gas from Aquila. Boris received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the Nizhegorodsky Polytechnic University in Russia.
Charles Ryan is chairman and founder of UFG Asset Management, a leading focused asset manager with $2.3 billion of assets in debt and equity investments. Mr. Ryan has substantial experience and success in private equity fund raising and investment. He is a graduate of Radnor High School and Harvard College. Raised in the Great Philadelphia area, Charles is a long term resident of the City and a dedicated community member whose active involvement has benefited many aspects of the local community. Charles is the founder of United Financial Group, which he steered as CEO to become one of the leading investment companies, and which was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 2005. He serves on the boards of Harvard Global Advisory Council, Yandex, Preferred Sands and Capital International Inc.
Liqun Pan has over 15 years of experience in financial planning, analysis, structuring and commodity risk management in the energy sector. Liqun has worked together with Mr. Brevnov in M&A transactions at AES and Integrys and led the financial analysis and project due diligence effort for many projects. She led the divesture of the Ironwood, 705MW natural gas combined cycle power plant in PA to PPL Corporation, and Red Oak, 820MW natural gas power plant in New Jersey to ECP.
Liqun received her MBA degree from Vanderbilt University and her Bachelor of Science degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University.
